According to the study “Marriage: More than a Century of Change,” the U.S. marriage rate has dropped to 31.1, or 31 marriages for every 1,000 married women.
Researchers say the marriage rate was 92.3 in 1920.
The study also found that the average age of a woman when s first marriage is 27-years-old and women are now less likely to remarry.
Researchers used data from the National Vital Statistics, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/National Center for Health Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau.
