The tornado was focused on by the Doppler On Wheels trucks (DOW). Wind speeds were measured at over 240 mph with it. According to Dr. Josh Wurman, he’s never seen anything like it. “I’ve just never seen a violent tornado sit there for over an hour,” said Wurman. “It was the perfect setup for engaging around the tornado without having to put people in the way. There was about a 2.5 km region (1.5 mile diameter) with winds of 100 mph or more. If this were moving, say, 2 mph, it would mean 45 minutes of 100 mph winds.”
